JULY 2008
Dear Members
Here we are at the beginning of a new Priory Park season, and we hope that everyone will thoroughly enjoy their tennis, and support the events organised by the Committee. The 2008-09 season will officially begin on Saturday 19th April. The ‘Raising the Flag’ ceremony at 2 pm will be carried out by the new President of the club, a tennis member, elected at the Priory Park AGM on 16th April. This will be followed by a bowls v tennis members match. Please do come down and have a go at bowling. It is always good fun – and we get lots of coaching! Priory Park is actively seeking new members – both tennis and bowls – of all standards. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining us, please do encourage them to come down. We are holding one Tennis Open Day on Sunday 20th April from 10 am, and a second Tennis Open Day for prospective new members on Sunday 11th May, from 10 am – 12.30. Please spread the word locally – everyone welcome.

Important dates for your diaries:
Wimbledon tickets
The Wimbledon draw and Supper will be held on Wednesday 21st May. Please put the date in your diary, and read your emails, or watch the noticeboard for further information.
Open Tournaments
There will be an American tournament followed by lunch open to all members and their guests on Sunday 29th June. Senior members will start at 10 am, and a Junior tournament will follow lunch. There will be another American tournament with lunch on Sunday 14th September following the same format.
New code for the courts
Just to let members know that the code will change on Sunday 1st June. All paid up members will be emailed with the new code.
Communication
We now have the majority of our members on an email list. This makes communicating with members efficient, quick and easy. This season, there will be no members’ booklet giving details of address, telephone number etc. It is therefore proposed that this membership list will be circulated on email on 2nd June so that you can get in touch with each other to arrange games etc. If, for any reason, you would rather your email address were not circulated, please get back to me. Otherwise, please make sure I have all your details by then!
General information
This year, all paid-up members will again be given a shoe tag. It is very helpful to the Committee if you wear your tag on your shoe. This avoids those awkward and embarrassing moments when one of the Committee members approaches you to check your right to be on the courts ! Could we remind all members, including juniors, to make sure the courts are locked if you are the last player. Thank you.
Clubhouse keys are available from committee members on request, cost £3.
Clothing
A reminder to members that tennis clothing and shoes should be worn at all times at the Club.
Juniors are asked to wear ‘sports’ clothing and trainers with non-marking soles.
Guest fees
You are welcome to bring a guest to play at Priory Park; however we must remind you that there is a guest fee payable of £5 each. Please continue to pay to a committee member, or put through the letterbox of 90 Forest Road. Junior guest fees are £3.
Reminder: guests should only play at the club 6 times. After that, we welcome their application
to join.
There will be another Priory Diary circulated with information about future events.
We hope you have a very enjoyable season!
